However, knowledge of all areas of the workshop facilities is desired as the expectation is that the successful applicant will be trained to assist students throughout the areas of, woodworking, metal, moulding, sculpting and any other technique supported in the facility.

A current knowledge of Health and Safety legislation relevant to the environment would be an advantage to the role.

You must be able to competently assist with the essential maintenance of workshop equipment and be able to contribute accurately to material requisition, as well as be confident in sourcing new suppliers and the best deals to ensure value for money is achieved for the University in line with procurement requirements.

You will also be responsible for ensuring the learning environment is adequately equipped, whilst supporting and supervising a diverse range of learners in using varying equipment and software.

You must be able to plan and organise a complex workload within a very busy and constantly changing environment and possess the ability to work independently and as a member of a team as required, providing a flexible approach to support the students’ learning experience. Evening cover may be required for this post.

A Level 3 qualification and/or equivalent experience is required and ideally candidates should possess a degree and/or equivalent, in a relevant subject. Experience of working with young adults in a teaching or training environment would also be advantageous.
