THe post

Arts University Bournemouth is the leading professional arts university dedicated to creative education and career success. Offering courses in art, design, architecture, media and performance, we are passionate about our specialist subjects and dedicated both to education and the creative industries which we serve.

The post of International Admissions Officer is based in Registry, a central administrative department providing support to the team dealing with admissions to University courses and working in close contact with the International and Business Delivery Department.

You will be responsible for the efficient processing of international student applications and admissions. You will also provide information and advice to both potential and current international applicants about our courses, therefore you must have knowledge of UK qualifications and an understanding of University admissions processes as well as an understanding of the issues facing international students. You must also have a thorough knowledge of non-UK qualifications and immigration rules, for the purposes of determining an applicant’s fee status. This demanding, customer-focused role will require you to work accurately under pressure whilst applying and implementing agreed admissions criteria and procedures.

You must be able to organise and prioritise your own workload and work without direct supervision. You will be IT literate with a sound knowledge of Microsoft Office and have experience of using a database. As part of the role you will be expected to deliver Admissions talks to an audience of prospective applicants and their parents/carers at Open Days and similar events based at the AUB campus. Therefore, you must have excellent communication and customer service skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills. For these events and at other key times during the Admissions cycle there will be a requirement to work some Saturdays, for which time off in lieu will be given.

Working as part of the Admissions team, your duties will also include dealing with day to day enquiries from all applicants via phone, email and face to face. The role will also require you to support the wider work of the Registry team which includes; enrolment, assessing fee status and ensuring the data held within our student records database is robust.

The successful applicant must have a degree level qualification or equivalent qualification or experience as well as previous experience of working with international students, in a similar role or in a school or college.
